Welding and Hunting Safety

Welding can be a particular hazardous venture.

We provide this free information as a resource, but make no claims to the safety of the methods. If you are an inexperienced welder, you should have someone more experienced help you with your project. If you have not reviewed proper safety techniques, you should not be welding at all. Your safety is up to you, and it's vitally important that you take your own steps to ensure it.

If you don't know about zinc exposure, you need to review saftey procedures.

Welding material that is zinc coated (the shiny coating on a lot of hardware) or galvanized (the dull coating) is very dangerous. People can get very sick from exposure to the fumes. It can be fatal.

Do not ever weld in an unventilated area. Do not breathe fumes and smoke created when welding.

The strength of your welds will also be of great importance for these projects, as for any project. You must understand good technique to get adequate penetration and strength for these projects.

The photos of the projects that we have provided are for example only, and are not intended to be a comparative guide to technique or weld strength.

A friendly atmosphere to "talk welding" is the Weld Talk Forum. Many people post pics of their welding, and if you ask nicely the wonderful users will usually give their opinion on your welds.
